Who we are
History
In October 2023, Gesa MIke Munabi, a Ugandan Social Worker and Robert Henraat,
a Dutch national with full of vigor, enthusiasm, love and compassion for humanity,
inspired an idea for starting up AfroArte Uganda, a not-for-profit and non-partisan
arts organisation to save humanity. They urged each other at their first initiation
meeting, to invest in their full potential and personal abilities, and engage other
interested individuals in efforts to save humanity, especially the vulnerable young
people, women and children in Africa from the devastations of life i.e. hunger,
poverty, wars, ignorance and diseases, conflicts, injustices and the escalating human
rights abuses.
The founders were further inspired by a multitude of factors, including a desire to
promote cultural identity and heritage, the potential for economic growth and
passion for artistic expression and that, art and craft can also be a potential tool for
promoting human rights and democracy by raising awareness, sparking
conversations and encouraging action.
